Camozzi Automation – a Camozzi Group company specializing in solutions for industrial automation, components and systems for the control of liquid and gaseous fluids and applications for the transport industry - today has opened a new logistics hub located in Via Sant’Alberto 10, Palazzolo sull’Oglio, provincial district of Brescia, in a privileged position close to the main freight forwarders, to the A4 motorway and to the Orio al Serio airport. A best-in-class logistics hub, to which the production of the two manufacturing plants in Lumezzane and Polpenazze will also be conveyed and which will considerably increase the storage capacity of finished products and goods handling, becoming the distribution hub of Camozzi Automation for the entire Italian and European territory.
“A strategic investment, worth approximately € 9 million, which is part of a more far-reaching development policy that not only aims to make the logistics sector a competitive advantage but also to increase the production capacity of the company’s plants thanks to a more efficient use of space and the streamlining of the internal layout, with subsequent positive effects in terms of employment” - commented Lodovico Camozzi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Camozzi Group, who added: “The new distribution hub will be a key asset to support the company’s business and our present and future growth objectives and will enable us to ensure our customers a direct, widespread, swift, punctual and efficient supply service.”
Thanks to the adoption of new generation automated systems, the new plant will, in a single shift, handle as many goods as handled by the previous warehouses during three shifts, for a final throughput ten times higher than in the past. An aspect of crucial importance in order to flexibly respond to today’s market trends, including in terms of transfer and storage units, increasingly based on a lean production of small batches and shipments by individual parcel.
The distinctive feature of the Camozzi Automation distribution hub is the innovative Cuby Multishuttle system by SSI Schaefer, the first installation in Italy, powered by AI Models (Artificial Intelligence). This technology involves the use of as many shuttles as there are shelf levels, providing a handling capacity 3-4 times greater than one traditional SRM machine.
The heart of the system is the WMS warehouse management software, integrated with the company’s ERP SAP. The final solution developed has been designed both for the purpose of raising the efficiency of the typical processes of a logistics hub and in order to develop workflows that make it possible to guide operators in the timely execution of orders according to the specifications of individual customers, reducing the risk of error nearly to zero.
A perfect match between space optimization and cutting-edge technologies that will enable Camozzi Automation to increase immediate availability and to aim for delivery within 24 hours from order confirmation, at the latest within 48 hours to reach the most distant European countries. Furthermore, centralizing logistics and distribution operations in a single hub will optimize shipments, with daily instead of weekly shipments. Moreover, the advantages will also be many for the company’s network of distributors, who will, in turn, ensure their customers fast and timely deliveries.
Lodovico Camozzi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Camozzi Group, stated: “We are very satisfied with the important milestone achieved with this new organizational structure that, thanks to logistics and distribution operations at one site only, will allow us to achieve maximum efficiency in processes and to be more competitive on both the Italian and the European markets. Furthermore, the new centralized platform is certainly a valuable lever to demonstrate closeness to builders and dealers and their needs and, at the same time, consolidate a deep connection with local communities and their future development.”

Continuous investments allowed the company to consolidate its international operations and expand its range, which today, in addition to industrial automation components and systems, includes technologies for the control of liquid and gaseous fluids and applications dedicated to the transport industry. A network of 6 production plants, all of which organized and managed according to lean production methods, 24 branches and over 50 exclusive distributors guarantee a widespread presence all over the world, to better understand the needs of its customers and assist them in every phase of the product lifecycle. The continuous research and technological development underpinning the company’s strategy are supported by MARC, Mechatronic Application Research Center, entirely dedicated to technological research, and by Camozzi Digital, an enterprise capable of combining industrial and digital skills, offering high value-added products and services. The factors driving research are linked to miniaturization and integration of components in smart mechatronic solutions capable of operating in an industry 4.0 environment and saving energy.
