The Camozzi Group History

The milestones of a journey that began in Brescia in 1964

 

1964

Attilio Camozzi quits his job as a turner and, together with his brothers Luigi and Geromino, embarks on an entrepreneurial adventure. He founds Camozzi and produces pneumatic components for industrial automation.

1980

Acquisition of Campress, a company specialising in the hot moulding of brass.

1980
1985

Camozzi makes his Formula 1 debut with Scuderia Arrows. McLaren won the constructors' title and Mika Hakkinen won the drivers' championship in 1998, the 16th year of Camozzi sponsorship. Camozzi's team also included Senna, Berger, and Alboreto.

1990-2000

The company enters an important expansion phase that leads to the acquisition of Innse-Berardi which operates in the machine tools sector, Marzoli operating in the textile industry and PlastiBenaco (now called Technopolymers) a manufacturer of plastic components.

The strengthening of foreign positions is consolidated with the acquisition of some companies in the United States, Germany and China, and the establishment of foreign subsidiaries in different countries worldwide.

1990-2000
2001

Acquisition of Newton Officine Meccaniche (light and medium-heavy metal processing for the following sectors: naval, large-sized engines, machine tools, electrotechnical industry).

2003

Ingersoll Machine Tools Inc. joins the Camozzi Group - a company from Illinois leader in developing advanced machine tools for the aerospace, defence, transportation, energy and heavy industry sectors. The Camozzi Research Center (CRC) is founded.

2005

The President of the Italian Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, awards Attilio Camozzi the honour of Cavaliere del Lavoro.

2009

Acquisition of INNSE and foundation of Innse Milano (precision machinery of medium to heavy gearing for gear reducers used in the steel industry, marine propulsion systems and lifting and transportation plants) in the historical Innocenti Sant'Eustacchio site in Via Rubattino.

2011

Fonderie Mora Gavardo, a cast iron and aluminium foundry, is acquired.

2013

Attilio Camozzi and his sons Lodovico and Marco join their Chinese partners in Shanghai for the 20th anniversary of Camozzi Pneumatic Control Components Co. Ltd.

2014

Attilio Camozzi celebrates 50 years of entrepreneurial success with family, employees and close colleagues.

2015

The founder passes away. His son Lodovico (President and Chief Executive Officer) takes over to lead the Group, supported by his uncles Luigi (Honorary President) and Geromino.

Camozzi Digital was founded the same year, a new division dedicated to providing digital systems and platforms for businesses looking to implement IoT technologies capable of creating a Smart Factory.

2018

A branch of the CRC becomes specialised, and MARC, a new interdisciplinary organisation dedicated to studying and creating components and systems combining electronics, mechanics, and software, is formed.

2019

Thanks to a new logistics hub in Palazzolo Sull'Oglio (Brescia), Camozzi Automation can deliver all over Europe in just a few hours.

MasterPrint®, the 3D printer from Ingersoll Machine Tools, enters the Guinness Book of World Records.

2019
2020

Gruppo Camozzi and the Italian Institute of Technology collaborate to create a one-of-a-kind robotic system for the safety of Genoa's new bridge.

2020
2021

Camozzi Advanced Manufacturing is the new name for Innse Milano. The Camozzi Research Centre, the throbbing centre of the Group's R&D, is also relocated to Via Rubattino to combine additive manufacturing and robotics.

The Camozzi Group's registered office is relocated to Milan the same year.

2021
2022

Through a technological partnership with Sauber Technologies, Camozzi returns to Formula 1 as an official sponsor of Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN.

The construction of the Giant Magellan Telescope begins at Ingersoll Machine Tools' newly built 40,000-square-meter production, assembly, and testing facility.
